Course Descriptions

PHTLS courses improve the quality of trauma care in your area and decrease mortality. The program is based on a pre-hospital trauma care philosophy, stressing the treatment of the multi-system trauma patient as a unique entity with specific needs. PHTLS promotes critical thinking as the foundation for providing quality care. It is based on the belief that, given a good fund of knowledge and key principles, EMS providers are capable of making reasoned decisions regarding patient care. Students completing this course will be eligible to receive 16 CEUs through CAPCE.

Life Suport (PHTLS)

First on the Scene (FOTS), created by the National Association of Emergency Medical Technicians (NAEMT) and the International Association of Fire Chiefs (IAFC), offers basic emergency response training to the general public. This program equips individuals to handle life-threatening emergencies until professional emergency medical services (EMS) arrive, using a combination of lesson presentations and hands-on skill stations.
