Member Spotlight - Member of the Month - Alex W.

Congratulations to Alex for achieving member of the month for October!

Alex has been a member of Commack Volunteer Ambulance Corps since July 2018. Nearing three years of service to his community, Alex has been a staple in what we do, and one of the most dedicated and passionate members that we have. Alex significantly exceeds his requirements month after month, and always comes in to help when we need it. You can often find him picking up critical shifts, covering his fellow members, and volunteering for standbys.

Alex lives by our motto of "Neighbors helping Neighbors", and loves to fulfill this mantra every time he comes in for a shift. Alex said that his favorite part of being a member of Commack Ambulance is being in a position to help the members of his community during their worst times. He continued by saying that "one call at a time, it has been such an amazing and rewarding experience". Alex is very passionate about his membership at the Corps, and cites it as one of his methods of self-development. He has learned to develop both his skills as a provider, and as a member of a team. He said that "Everyone that volunteers at CVAC has helped shape both my personal and professional life. I have learned to work well in high-stress, fast-paced environments which helps me in my professional career". This translated into his professional career, as Alex was able to provide medical care to a co-worker who went into sudden cardiac arrest during Alex's first week on the job. He was able to save his life that day.

Alex's found it difficult to pick only one special moment during his tenure in the Corps. In his own words, "I love being a member of such an excellent agency that goes out and helps our community everyday. It is such an amazing experience and opportunity". Alex is thankful for the friendships that he has developed in the Corps, and he views every single alarm as a special experience to help someone in need. He knows he can make a positive impact in someone's life every time he gets on the ambulance.

Alex, it is great that you have earned our special designation as member of the month. You provide amazing dedication and passion to your community, and it is great to see that personal connection you make with not only your fellow providers, but your patients as well. Your sense of dedication to the Corps is admirable and contagious, as it rubs off on the members you interact with. Your work is important and valued not only by me, but by every member of the Corps. Congratulations Sir! - 2-16-33
