Member Spotlight - Member of the Month - Brendon Z.
Congratulations to Brendon for achieving member of the month for August!
Brendon joined Commack Volunteer Ambulance during his Junior year in High School, around Spring of 2017. Brendon has since become one of our most active members. Recently, Brendon earned his Emergency Medical Technician certification, and has become a cleared EMT here at CVAC. Since then, Brendon has completed well over 100 volunteer hours in the last month!
Brendon loves the environment and camaraderie at CVAC. One of his favorite things about being a member at CVAC is having had the ability to grow as a person, learn and develop compassion for his patients, and continuously develop his patient care skills. Brendon loves to learn and grow as both a medical provider and a person. When asked how Commack Volunteer Ambulance Corps has helped Brendon develop in both his professional and personal life, he stated "It has made me realize that I enjoy the mindset of being a jack of all trades kind of provider, rather than focused on discipline alone. It has influenced me and became a big motivator in me joining the army". Currently Brendon serves as a PFC in the Army Reserve as a Combat Medic attached to the 345th Military Police Company.
Brendon's most important moment at Commack Volunteer Ambulance Corps was a pediatric save that he was a crucial part of. "A special moment I had in CVAC was realizing that what I'm doing as a volunteer and as a provider has a direct impact on people and that being a provider is a noble cause". He continued to recount the night he was a part of saving a child's life. "My crew had a pediatric save and the parents were crying in joy that their child got a second chance. I realized EMS and healthcare is all about second chances and I think that is pretty special".
Congratulations to Brendon for earning the honor of being our eighth member of the month, and our eighth in our series of member spotlights.
