Member Spotlight – Member of the Month – Jillian S.

Congratulations to Jill for achieving member of the month for July!

Jill joined Commack Volunteer Ambulance Corps in April of 2019, but has been an EMT since 2017. Since she joined our organization Jill has become one of our most engaged and active members. Her favorite thing about being a member is the family atmosphere at CVAC. In her own words, Jill says "I feel like everyone at this organization is very welcoming and we work together as a team to reach one common goal, which is to be there for our community when they need us most". Jill is an essential and valued part of our family here at CVAC. She is a member we can rely on to go above and beyond for our organization and her community.

Jill aspires to become a Physician's Assistant. She is currently in school working towards her goal. CVAC has helped her in her professional life by allowing her to gain medical experience. In her own words, "CVAC has allowed me to become more familiar with the field of medicine as well as understand the importance of communication skills not only with a team of healthcare providers, but also with patients and families". We know Jill will succeed in her career and become an outstanding and knowledgeable PA.

Jill's most special moment at the Corps was when her grandfather, who was an original and founding member of CVAC was able to take some time and visit the building to see just how far CVAC has advanced since its inception in 1966. Her grandfather was so amazed to see the advanced technology we utilize, the growth of our membership, and the engagement that our organization fosters. Jill's grandfather was able to take a ride in 2-16-16, one of our original Cadillac ambulances courtesy of Chief Hoddinott. Jill says her grandfather never had a bigger smile on his face. She says that he still talks about it to this day with tears in his eyes. This important part of her life is something that she says she will never forget!

Congratulations to Jill for earning the honor of being our seventh member of the month, and our seventh in our series of member spotlights.

Jill, we thank you so much for what you do for CVAC and your community every single day. As a Chief, I know you are reliable, dedicated, and always willing to help in a moment's notice. You have stood out from your probationary class by becoming a peer leader, and helping us in ways that go above and beyond the call of duty. Thank you for everything you do for us, and all of us are excited to see you develop and follow your dream in the healthcare field! - 2-16-33
