Member Spotlight – Member of the Month – Dean M.

Congratulations to Dean M. for achieving member of the month for June!

Dean began his journey at Commack Volunteer Ambulance Corps in 2014. He left to finish his doctorate degree but recently returned this January to continue his journey with us. In his short time back, Dean has fallen right back into his rhythm of being an exceptional and model member.

Dean loves the people he works with more than anything else about CVAC. He has made life-long friendships and connections with compassionate, dedicated, and intelligent members of our community. He also loves the engagement that he sees from our younger membership. In his words, “It’s so incredible. I don’t think I could have sacrificed my time like these teenagers and early 20 years old do. It gives me a great sense of pride to work with them and be a small part in their lives.” When asked how CVAC has helped him in his personal life, Dean says that “Personally, I want to be a role model for my daughter. I want her to understand that even though you can be successful, you should always look to give back to your community. To volunteer your time to your community without looking for anything in return is something I hope she learns is an honorable decision”. Professionally, Dean is a Doctor of Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine. He loves that when his patients discover he is a member of CVAC, they are exceedingly happy to know he understands and respects traditional allopathic medicine in addition to his vast knowledge in alternative medicine.

Dean has had many special moments in CVAC. One that stands out to him personally is when he attended his first CVAC installation dinner with his wife Stacey. That was the night Dean won our Probationary Member of the Year Award. Dean said “It was such a great night, but when they called my name, I was shocked. There were so many great people in the class. I was so humbled, and so proud. My wife with a tear in her eyes actually whispered to me, “That’s you.. They called your name. Get up.” And that was just the start of a really great experience here in CVAC.”

Congratulations to Dean for earning the honor of being our sixth member of the month, and our sixth in our series of member spotlights!

Dean, you often refer to yourself as a “Cog in the wheel”, but I want you to know that you are so much more than that. You are the backbone of what we do, and the amount of time and effort that you selflessly dedicate to our community is humbling. You have a long and successful future ahead of yourself both professionally and at CVAC, and I hope I am there to see all of it! Thank you for everything you do! – 2-16-33
