Established in 1966, the Commack Volunteer Ambulance Corps is a vital part of our community. Your support helps Commack Volunteer Ambulance Corps maintain the resources necessary to provide you with the highest quality of pre-hospital care possible. Our 24-7 in-house crews provide superior response time to ambulance calls with highly trained and motivated emergency personal, as well as being the only emergency ambulance service for Commack. We work hard to maintain the highest training levels, equpiment and reliable vehicles able to serve Commack and parts or Smithtown, East Northport, Elwood and Hauppauge.

Car vs. Pole

Saturday, November 12, 2011 16:07 Units responded to a Car vs. Pole on Harned Road and Brian St.  Units treated and transported patients with minor injuries to local hospitals.

     



 

Overturn MVA

Monday, October 24, 2011 21:08 On Monday night, CVAC was activated for a MVA on Veterans Memorial Highway with a cross street of Wyandanch Blvd.  2-16-32 was on scene and reported a 3 car MVA with 1 overturned vehicle.

2-16-20 / 19 / 80 / 89 / 30 / 32 operated on scene under the command of Asst. Chief Lowenberg.

Units on scene treated and transported 1 patient with minor injuries.

     



 

Car into a Building

Monday, October 17, 2011 11:15 CVAC was activated for a MVA with a car into a building at 6233 Jericho Tpke.  Commack FD was responding and first on scene confirming a vehicle fully into the building with smoke from the vehicle and all occupants out of the vehicle.

The occupant of the vehicle was not injured.  She was evaluated by the crew of 2-16-20 and released by medical control.

Units 2-16-20, 2-16-80. 2-16-84, 2-16-89 operated under the command of Chief Schwalbe.

Units remained on scene until Commack FD operations were complete.

Saturday, October 1, 2011  CVAC's newly formed bike team!

The bike team is comprised of four bike which will be used at large events where getting an ambulance to a patient in need may be delayed due to the amount of spectators or participants.  The bikes make for quick access to a patient in need.  They are able to ride through the crowd with ease and go places an ambulance cannot. 

The bikes carry oxygen, AED's, and first aid supplies and are staffed with EMT's and ALS Providers.

The bike will be used for events in the community, as well has to help out our neighbors when they need. 

   


 

MVA with PIN

Wednesday, September 21, 2011 22:48 On Wednesday night CVAC was activated for a Motor Vehicle Accident on Crooked Hill Rd at the entrance to Walmart.  While enroute to the alarm, the Commack FD confirmed one occupant pinned in the vehicle.  CFD quickly extricated the occupant and allowed CVAC to gain access.

Under the command of Chief Schwalbe, 2-16-18 and 2-16-89 treated and transported two patients with minor injuries.

     



 

MVA

Friday, July 15, 2011 01:03 CVAC was activated for a MVA on Wichard Blvd and Roosevelt Ave.  Upon arrival, 2-16-18 and 2-16-89 found a single car who struck a tree.  There were no occupants in or around the vehicle.  SCPD states the occupant fled the scene. 

   


 

Eatons Neck FD Parade

Monday, July 4, 2011  CVAC celebrates the 4th of July with all of its neighbors at the Eatons Neck Fire Department Parade.

MVA into the Woods

Sunday, July 3, 2011 20:12 CVAC was activated for a MVA with reported pin on the Northbound Sunken Meadow between Jericho Tpke and Pulaski Rd..  Upon arrival the crew was faced with a car into the woods and one patient trapped inside the vehicle.

Commack FD was on scene and extricated the patient quickly, allowing our crews to get to the patient and begin treatment.

Under the command of Asst. Chief Hoddinott, 2-16-20 treated and transported the patient to the nearest trauma center.

Friday, June 24, 2011 16:12 At 1612, CVAC was activated for a MVA on the Northern State c/s Sunken Meadow Pkwy.

Upon arrival, Asst. Chief Schwalbe found a single car in the woods on the Eastbound Northern State at Commack Road.   

2-16-20 treated and transported one occupant with minor injuries to the local hospital.

Units on scene: 2-16-20, 2-16-89, 2-16-80, 2-16-33, 2-16-31

   


 

MVA reported overturn

Monday, June 20, 2011 16:26 On Monday 6/20/11 @ 1626hrs CVAC was activated for a MVA with a reported overturn in front of 360 Moreland Rd.  Upon arrival the crew was faced with a confirmed overturn and began evaluating for patients.

Under the command of Greg Miniutti, Chief of the Department, 2-16-20 treated and transported one patient to the local hospital.
