Established in 1966, the Commack Volunteer Ambulance Corps is a vital part of our community. Your support helps Commack Volunteer Ambulance Corps maintain the resources necessary to provide you with the highest quality of pre-hospital care possible. Our 24-7 in-house crews provide superior response time to ambulance calls with highly trained and motivated emergency personal, as well as being the only emergency ambulance service for Commack. We work hard to maintain the highest training levels, equpiment and reliable vehicles able to serve Commack and parts or Smithtown, East Northport, Elwood and Hauppauge.

CVAC at FDNY Trauma Conference

On May 20th, 2012, the FDNY kicked off its annual celebration of EMS Week by hosting a Regional Trauma Conference at the Fire Training Academy, Randall's Island. Rescuers from various EMS and Fire agencies participated in this hands on training. National experts in the fields of law enforcement and emergency medicine were also on hand to speak on several important topics. Participants were able to work as teams and gained valuable experience during the different hands on scenarios.

CVAC BIKE TEAM

The CVAC Bike Team after the Memorial Day Parade.  The bike team allows for quick access to patients through large crowds.  The bike teams carry first aid supplies, oxygen, and an AED.








   


 

OVERTURN MVA

Friday, May 25, 2012 01:30 CVAC was activated for a motor vehicle accident with reported overturn on the LIE and the Sunken Meadow.  Upon arrival crews found a vehicle that had overturned with one patient.  The patient was extricated on their own prior to EMS and FD arrival.


The patient was treated and transported to the local hospital for evaluation.

Door Pop

Tuesday, February 21, 2012  On Tuesday CVAC was dispatched for a Bravo MVA in the parking lot of Home Depot on Jericho Tpke and Larkfield Road.


While the occupant had very minor injuries, the damage to the vehicle was in a spot that prohibited the door from being opened.


Commack FD responded and made quick work of the extrication allow CVAC to gain access to the patient.


One occupant was treated and transported to local hospital.


   


 

Overturn MVA

Thursday, February 16, 2012 08:18 CVAC was activated for a MVA at the intersection of Indian Head Road and Sunken Meadow Parkway.  Crews were faced with an overturned vehicle up against a tree.  Commack FD extricated one occupant who was pinned in the vehicle.

Units 2-16-18, 2-16-19, 2-16-89, 2-16-80 and 2-16-33 operated under the commacnd of Asst. Chief Lowenberg.

The patient was treated and transported to the local trauma center with minor injuries.

     



 

MVA with Pin

Wednesday, January 11, 2012 23:56 CVAC was activated for a MVA with reported entrapment on Vets Highway in the vicinity of Harned Road.  Chief Schwalbe was first on scene and reported a two car MVA with one occupant pinned in the vehicle and another occupant self extricated.


Extrication was difficult due to the location of the car up against the guard rail.  Commack FD and SCPD ESU were on scene to extricate the patient.





Units 2-16-31, 2-16-89, 2-16-20, & 2-16-19 transported the patients to local hospitals.


     



 

MVA w/ Medivac

Thursday, December 22, 2011 1732 CVAC was activated for a Motor Vehicle Accident with reported entrapment at the intersection of Vets Hwy / Tern Pl.  Two cars were involved with severe damage to both.  Under the Command of Asst. Chief Lowenberg, 2-16-19, 2-16-18, and 2-16-89 treated the occupants of the vehicles.

One patient was transported with SCPD aviation and the other by 2-16-18.

 All units were in service at 1821hrs

     



 

MVA w/ reported overturn

Tuesday, December 20, 2011 14:22 CVAC was activated for a MVA with a reported overturn at the intersection of Indian Head Road / Jericho Tpke.  Upon arrival, crews were faced with a minor MVA.  No vehicles were overturned and no victims were trapped.  Under the command of EMT Emily Bender, 2-16-19 and 2-16-89 treated and transported to local hospitals.


     

 

MVA w/ Overturn

Monday, November 14, 2011 00:12 Multiple crews responded to a late night call for a reported overturn.  Upon arrival the crew confirmed an overturned vehicle with no individuals tinside.

Units 2-16-20, 2-16-17, 2-16-89, and 2-16-32 operated under the command of Asst. Chief Groveman. 

The crews treated and transported the injured individuals to local hospitals.
